Well, it has been more than a year, we have been insanely busy over the past year, but we do have important changes to bring to your attention

New pubnix co-maintainer

We have a new co-maintainer for the pubnix now, busterkeaton. He has experience from many Indian servers like durare.org, and we are excited to see what he can do to help us with our pubnix.

Privacy Frontend Shutdown

Most privacy frontends stopped working long ago, and the amount of effort put into maintaining them outweighed the benefit of having them around, so we have discontinued most of them. Additionally, a few other services were shut down due to lack of use or abuse.

These shutdowns will allow us to focus more on the core services that we provide.

The list of discontinued services is below:

• FreshRSS and RSS Bridge (abuse)
• Jitsi (unused, not performant enough)
• SearXNG (ratelimited 90% of the time)
• AnonymousOverflow (behind cloudflare now)
• Scribe (doesnt work for most posts anymore)
• Rimgo (unused)
• Breezewiki (unused)
• Shoelace (unused; broken)
• Safetwitch (unused; broken)
• Timetagger (unused)

US Node and Slackware Node Removed

Since we only have 3 privacy frontends left, a separate node for just frontends doesn't make sense anymore. Therefore, we have shutdown the US Node.

Slackware node was there just for the memes anyway, we just removed it after it expired and moved the status page to a friend's server

Pubnix Registrations Closed

Never thought the project would get this far, but we have reached capacity for the Pubnix!

So, till we get the money for Pubnix v2 (hopefully NLNet :D); new registrations for the pubnix will be closed.

Authentik open for all users

Even if you aren't a member of the pubnix, you can now use our authentik at https://auth.p.projectsegfau.lt to sign up to our services.

NLNet grant proposed

We have applied for an nlnet grant through their fediversity call. If we get selected, we will use the grant money to work on Pubnix v2.

Matrix is back

With envs shutdown, we have restarted a matrix instance, though this time- invite only, and running on psf.lt domain.

Move to desec

Since US Node was one of the primaries for Knot DNS, its shutdown means we have had to move to Desec. Plus side, however, is that our DNSSEC will finally be issue-free.

More activity soon, hopefully..

Devrand's exams are over, and Arya's will be in a few months. This means, we should be a lot more active in the near future, especially if we get the NLNet grant - in which case we have to :p
